What Is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded support that helps people with disability live in shared or individual accommodation with the right level of daily support.
SIL focuses on building independence while ensuring safety, wellbeing, and consistency of care.
Flexible Shared Living Options
Not all participants have SIL funding in place. In some cases, participants may have sufficient 1:1 Core Support hours and a willingness to live in a shared environment.
Where suitable, we can support individuals to live in one of our shared homes using their approved Core Supports. This approach allows participants to experience supported living in a safe and structured environment while maintainingchoice and flexibility.
Where appropriate, and subject to suitability and individual assessment, Melbourne Care Services may support these participants to live in shared accommodation with another person. Supports are delivered using the participant’s existing Core Supports, with clear agreements in place to ensure safety, choice, and consistency of care.
This option can provide a more flexible pathway to supported living while longer-term funding arrangements are explored.
Our Homes & Daily Supports
Our SIL homes provide a calm, structured, and supportive environment where participants are assisted with:
- Personal care and daily living tasks
- Meal preparation and household routines
- Medication administration and management

Our team has experience supporting participants from:

Our Approach to Independence
Our approach to SIL goes beyond supervision.
