Hello readers,

I’m working from home today instead of my usual locations in Wantirna and Knox, and I wanted to take a moment to share something interesting. Today, I’m going to be talking about people with disabilities who are, or have been, athletes.

People with disabilities have participated in sports such as swimming, basketball, track and field, skiing, and snowboarding. Some of these athletes include Tatyana McFadden, Matt Scott, and Amy Purdy.

Tatyana McFadden is a wheelchair racer with spina bifida. She is a multiple Paralympic gold medalist and marathon winner. She won her first gold medal in 2012 at the London Paralympics.

Matt Scott is a wheelchair basketball player and Paralympic gold medalist. He won his gold medal in 2016 at the Rio de Janeiro Paralympics.

Amy Purdy is a snowboarder with prosthetic legs and a Paralympic medalist. She won a bronze medal in 2014 at the Sochi Winter Paralympics. She is also well known for appearing on Dancing with the Stars.

These athletes are incredibly inspiring. They show that having a disability does not stop someone from following their passion, working hard, and achieving great success. Their stories remind us that determination and resilience can lead to amazing accomplishments.
