Hello readers,
I'm writing from home today, rather than from the Wantirna Knox area where I usually work. This week marks Kids in Pain Awareness Week, which runs from the 21st to the 27th of September. It's a time to reflect on a serious issue affecting many families one in five children in Australia lives with chronic pain. This week is dedicated to raising awareness about the lack of treatment options and support available for these children.
Children living with chronic pain can miss up to 22% of school days, which has a significant impact on their education, social development, and overall wellbeing. That’s why it’s so important to get involved and help spread the message.
You can bring awareness by talking to others about how many children are affected, and encouraging schools and community groups to participate in conversations about chronic pain.
There are also webinars, workshops, and community events hosted by Chronic Pain Australia and Support Kids in Pain (SKIP) that you can attend. If you’d like to stay informed and find more ways to contribute, you can subscribe to newsletters on the Chronic Pain Australia website.
Thanks for reading my blog and for helping to support children living with chronic pain.
