The connection between physical  and mental health

Hello readers,

I’m writing from home today instead of my usual spot in Nunawading, and as it’s Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to talk about the connection between mental health and physical health. They are closely linked when one is affected, the other is often affected too.

For example, when someone is feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed, they may notice physical changes in their body such as feeling tired or low in energy, having trouble sleeping, experiencing headaches, or changes in their appetite.

Exercise can be very positive for mental health as it helps the brain release feel good chemicals and supports overall wellbeing.

Nutrition also plays an important role. Eating regular, balanced meals can help maintain steady energy levels and support a more stable mood; while not drinking enough water or having poor nutrition can lead to tiredness and irritability and we all know how it feels to be hungry or dehydrated.

The key thing to remember is that small changes can have a big impact. Focusing on one area at a time, such as sleep, movement, or daily routine, can gradually improve overall mental health over time.

Thanks for reading my blog.
