Hello readers
Today I’m writing from home instead of my usual spot in Nunawading, and I decided to write about Neurodiversity Celebration Week, which takes place from 16th to 22 March 2026. It’s a week dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the many different ways people think, learn, and experience the world.
The idea of neurodiversity was introduced by Australian sociologist Judy Singer. Neurodiversity is an umbrella term that describes the natural differences in how human brains function. Instead of seeing these differences as deficits or disorders, the concept encourages people to recognize them as a normal and valuable part of human diversity. Neurodiversity can include conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological differences.
There are many ways people can get involved in Neurodiversity Celebration Week, including attending events and exploring online learning opportunities. One example is the launch of the “Neurodiversity Data at Work” Guide, which will take place on Monday 16 March 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm AEDT at the Telstra Customer Insight Centre in Melbourne, as well as online. The event is hosted by Diversity Council Australia and Amaze, and it focuses on introducing a practical guide designed to help workplaces become more neuro-inclusive and supportive of neurodivergent employees.
There are also many online and educational resources available throughout the week. The official Neurodiversity Celebration Week website hosts a global webinar series that offers free sessions covering topics such as education, employment, and late diagnosis. Organisations like Autism SA also provide workplace toolkits with helpful resources, including guides for neuro inclusive recruitment and materials that help businesses support neurodivergent staff.
Schools can also take part in the week by using resources from Twinkl Australia, which provides teaching packs, PowerPoints, and classroom display materials designed to help students learn about neurodiversity and better understand their peers.
Overall, Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a great opportunity to raise awareness, learn more about neurodiversity, and encourage acceptance and inclusion for people who think and experience the world in different ways.
