Thanks for stopping by!

Today’s blog is coming to you from the comfort of my home, instead of my usual spot in Nunawading. I’m excited to share some of the latest assistive technologies that are making life easier and more empowering for NDIS participants in 2026.

First up, AI-powered smart home systems are transforming the way people interact with their living spaces. Devices like the Google Nest Hub Max and Amazon Echo Show 10 allow NDIS participants to control their home environment using simple voice commands. With 2026 advancements such as adaptive AI, enhanced speech recognition, and seamless integration with mobility aids and emergency alert systems, everyday living is becoming safer, smarter, and far more independent.

Next, we have smart wearable health and safety devices. Innovations like the Apple Watch Series 9 and Empatica EmbracePlus are helping users stay on top of their health while improving personal safety. These devices can monitor vital signs, detect falls automatically, and even provide AI-driven alerts for seizures and stress levels. They also connect directly with carers and NDIS support networks, enabling faster response times in emergencies and offering peace of mind for both participants and their families.

Finally, let’s look at the latest in powered mobility and robotic assistance. Devices such as the Permobil F5 Corpus and WHILL Model C2 are leading the way with cutting-edge features like terrain-responsive navigation, app-based controls with remote support, and compact, travel-friendly designs. These advancements are making it easier than ever for participants to move freely, explore their communities, and maintain independence in their daily lives.

Assistive technology continues to evolve rapidly, opening up new possibilities and improving quality of life in meaningful ways.

Thanks so much for reading!
