Disability Friendly Beaches

Hello readers,

I’m working from the Wantirna and Knox area today, and with summer just around the corner, I wanted to take a moment to share something exciting.

As we all know, the warm weather is the perfect time to head to the beach, so I’m writing about some great disability friendly beach options. Everyone should be able to enjoy the beach, and these locations make that possible.

The first beach is St Kilda Beach. It offers beach matting and beach wheelchairs, including a floating Mobi-Chair and a powered version, which are accessible through the Life Saving Club. It’s also located close to the Melbourne CBD, making it easy to reach.

The second location is Port Melbourne. This beach also provides beach matting and floating Mobi-Chairs, available at the Life Saving Club. It’s a comfortable and accessible place to enjoy the water.

The third beach is Altona Beach. This spot includes beach matting, Mobi-Chairs, and Sand cruiser beach wheelchairs. There is also a changing facility with a hoist at nearby Weaver Reserve, which makes it even more accessible for people with higher support needs.

The fourth option is Williamstown Beach. This beach provides beach matting and free hire of beach wheelchairs and walking frames, although bookings are required, so it’s important to plan ahead.

If you want to visit a disability friendly beach this summer, any of these places would be a wonderful choice.

Thank you for reading my blog.
