Hello readers,

I’m writing from home today instead of my usual spot in Nunawading, and I wanted to share something important.

On April 11th it is World Parkinson’s Day a time to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease, which is more widespread than many people realize. It affects over 200,000 people in Australia and more than 10 million people worldwide.

An interesting initiative this year is #SparkTheNight. Parkinson’s Australia, together with the Global Alliance to End Parkinson’s Disease, is encouraging landmarks across the country to light up in medium blue on April 11. This represents the 11.8 million people globally living with Parkinson’s, including more than 150,000 Australians.

There are also some great ways to get involved. There is a event called A Walk in the Park and it celebrates its 15th anniversary on Sunday, 19 April 2026 at Fed Square, Melbourne. You can also take part in the “Beyond the Diagnosis” event at the Amora Hotel Riverwalk in Melbourne on April 11th, from 9:30am to 3:30pm ACST, where practical support and expert advice will be available.

For more information, you can visit Parkinson’s Australia.

Thanks so much for reading my blog.
