Hello readers,

I’m writing from home today rather than my usual location in Nunawading. As it’s Stress Awareness Month, observed each April, it’s a good time think about how stress affects both our mental and physical health and to explore healthier ways to cope with it.

Reading about stress can help you better understand its impact, recognise early warning signs like fatigue or irritability, and learn practical ways to manage it before it develops into more serious issues such as anxiety or depression.

There are many ways to manage stress, and what works can be different for everyone, but here are a few strategies I personally find helpful. One is breaking tasks into smaller steps; if I wake up with a lot to do, I focus on one thing at a time, so it feels more manageable.

I also use the SMART approach setting goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound which helps me stay focused and motivated without feeling overwhelmed. Another important one for me is staying connected with friends and family. Having people, you trust to talk to can make a big difference, as a problem shared often feels lighter.

Lastly, I try to spend time outdoors in nature, even just going for a walk, as it helps me feel more grounded. I don’t do it as often as I’d like, but that’s something I’m working on hope by me sharing helps you.

Thanks for reading my blog.
