Hello readers

I’m working from home today instead of my usual locations in Wantirna and Knox, and I wanted to take a moment to share something important, it is International Day of People with Disability on December 3rd. The theme is "Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress," so this means being thoughtful of people with disabilities in workplaces and the community.

A way to do this is by understanding that not all people with disabilities are the same and there are many different kinds. There are physical disabilities; these conditions affect a person's mobility, physical capacity, stamina, or dexterity.

There are also sensory disabilities, such as someone being blind or having their hearing affected. There are intellectual disabilities that affect a person's ability to learn, reason, problem solve, and adapt their behavior to different situations.

There are neurological disabilities; these often result from damage to the brain or nervous system, affecting mental or bodily functions. There are also psychosocial disabilities, which arise from mental health conditions and can affect a person's thinking processes, emotional state, and social interactions.

There are neurodevelopmental and learning disabilities that affect how a person's brain develops, impacting specific abilities like learning, communication, or attention. And lastly, there are chronic illnesses; many ongoing health conditions can be considered disabilities if they significantly impact a person's ability to function in daily life.

Thanks for reading my blog.
