Hello readers,

I’m writing from home today not my usual spot in Nunawading and if you’re feeling a bit bored, this blog is for you! Today I’m sharing an exciting idea for a day trip to Docklands.

Docklands is a vibrant and welcoming destination for NDIS participants looking to enjoy a relaxed and accessible day out. With its wide promenades, modern facilities, and open spaces, it creates a comfortable and inclusive environment suited to a range of mobility and sensory needs.

The area features flat, wide waterfront walkways that are perfect for wheelchairs, walkers, and prams, with minimal hills compared to other parts of Melbourne’s CBD. There are also plenty of seating areas along the way, making it easy to take rest breaks and enjoy the view.

You’ll find accessible public toilets throughout the precinct, step-free entry at many restaurants and cafés, and convenient nearby parking with accessible bays.

There’s so much to enjoy at your own pace from gentle harbour strolls and peaceful waterfront views to accessible cafés, public art, and open spaces. A standout highlight is the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, which offers wheelchair-accessible cabins, smooth boarding with staff assistance, and a comfortable, climate-controlled experience.

Docklands is also a great choice for those who prefer open, less crowded environments, with clear pathways, predictable layouts, and lower noise levels compared to busy shopping areas. Getting there is easy too, with accessible tram stops and step-free train access via Southern Cross Station.

So why not make the most of the sunshine and plan a visit? It’s a fantastic spot to relax, explore, and enjoy the day.

Thanks so much for reading my blog!
