Hello, readers!

I'm writing from home today, not Wantirna in the Knox area, and I’m continuing my efforts to bring awareness to Men’s Health Week by focusing on men’s mental health and where to find support.

According to Beyond Blue, men are getting better at reaching out for help, but only 37% of men and boys seek support when they need it. There are many reasons why men may hesitate, and some common ones listed by Men’s Line Australia include:

Social norms and cultural expectations the pressure to appear strong and self-sufficient.

Feeling ashamed or embarrassed to seek support for mental health struggles.

Limited understanding or awareness of the signs and symptoms of mental health issues.

So, what helps? One simple but powerful tool is to ask twice if someone says they’re fine, they might not be. Asking again can encourage honesty and meaningful conversation.

Support is available, and resources like Beyond Blue and Movember provide valuable advice and assistance.

Remember, reaching out and talking isn’t just about getting help it’s about staying connected.

You’re not alone.

If things feel overwhelming, there are people ready to listen.

I hope this blog has raised awareness about men’s mental health and provided some helpful tips.

Thanks for reading!
